The Firestarter Entrepreneurial Training Program is designed to help you to research, plan, start and grow your own business.
But Firestarter is not just a theoretical program. Assuming your business is viable, you will actually be creating your business plan, launching, and operating your business with the support of Business Victoria. You will learn from and meet experts from a range of business disciplines, including marketing, bookkeeping, insurance, banking and law.
If you’re not ready to start a business, you will still develop valuable entrepreneurial skills that are applicable in almost any job role or career path.
Structure
The Firestarter program is a one year program and is split into two segments: the core program and the self-directed program.
The three month core
The core part of Firestarter is three months in duration and comprises of thirteen workshops in addition to nine hours of one-to-one mentoring and an optional panel presentation. Read the full syllabus online.
At the end of the three month core you will have a developed a credible and comprehensive business plan ready to be implemented.
The self-directed ‘take-off’
The second segment is the nine month self-directed take-off program when you start your business but continuing to receive support.
You will be implementing your business plan based on the timeline you developed in the first three months.
During this period you will have four additional one hour mentoring sessions to review your progress, discuss any challenges and develop new ideas.
You will also be eligible to participate in any 2 elective workshops at no cost, thereby allowing you to develop skills in specific areas critical to the success of your business. You will also receive a 50% discount on any further workshops you wish to take throughout this nine month period.
After the year
After the year, you will still be part of the Business Victoria community as an alum. You will be invited to network events and continue to receive useful information from us.
Should you also wish to extend the Firestarter program this is also available at a reduced cost.
